ESR, Future Group in pact for two warehousing parks

Asia Pacific's leading logistics real estate platform ESR announced partnership with Future group to develop two warehousing parks with an estimated investment of Rs 300 crore. With a total area of 75 acres and a developable area of around 1.3 mn sqft, these warehousing parks will be developed to service the northern and central regions. The ESR platform spans across China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and India.

Logistics start-up ElasticRun in talks to raise USD55 from SA’s Naspers

Logistics and distribution startup ElasticRun is in talks to raise USD50-55 million, led by South African internet and media group Naspers, valuing the company at USD250 million. Pune-based ElasticRun is an asset-light transportation network that caters to industries including consumer goods, online retail, manufacturing, automotive and hospitality.

Biyani’s FSC to invest Rs 1,000 cr to boost supply chain management

Future Supply Chain Solutions (FSC), promoted by Kishor Biyani's Future Enterprise Ltd, has chalked out a capital expenditure of Rs 1,000 crore to ramp up its capacity to improve its third-party logistics services to existing and new clients. With this investment, FSC, one of the leading organised third-party supply chain and logistics service providers, plans to create India Food Grid (IFG), a network of 38 integrated food distribution centres providing pan India reach.

Maharashtra govt, UAE-based Eagle Hills in pact; logistics hub is part of investment

Maharashtra government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the UAE-based , which is a sister concern of Emmar Properties PJSC. The company has proposed an investment of Rs 9,500 crore in hi-tech food city, mega food city, logistics and warehousing hub and fruits and vegetables hub across multiple locations in the state. These projects are expected to generate a total employment of close to 6 lakh.

Blue Dart to hike shipment charges by 10 pc from Jan

Express courier major Blue Dart has announced a near 10 per cent increase in shipment charges from next year. One of the reasons is regulatory cost, which includes expenses related to compliance for the workforce, with enhanced security regulations across a number of locations. Other reasons include inflation, currency movement and fuel cost volatility. The general increase is effective January 1, 2020, and the average shipment cost will go up by 9.8 per cent from the 2019 levels.

Samba to get first railway freight in J&K

The railway station in the Samba district will soon have a freight terminal, the first-of-its-kind in Jammu and Kashmir, having the capacity to move 6,000 to 9,000 metric tonnes of goods per day. Initially, the terminal would have the capacity to handle the movement of 2 to 5 cargo trains per day in and out. The trains would be ordinary good trains, container trains or automobile trade trains. The terminal would also handle container, brake bulk (cement or fertilizers or steel and automobiles) apart from other industrial goods.

L&T to construct greenfield Navi Mumbai airport

GVK’s stepdown subsidiary Navi Mumbai International Airport Private Ltd, has awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the greenfield airport to the transportation infrastructure and buildings and factories businesses of construction major L&T Construction. The key development spectrum covers cut and fill works, terminal works including departure and arrival forecourts, airfield development works that include a 3,700-metre-long runway, apron systems, taxiway systems, airfield ground lighting and other facilities, landside facilities covering roads, multilevel car parking, utilities and support facilities.

Afghanistan sends 1st perishable cargo to India via Chabahar

Afghanistan has exported its first consignment of perishable goods to India through Iran’s Chabahar Port, informed by Behrouz Aqaei, director general of Ports and Maritime Organization of Sistan-Baluchestan Province. “The reefer ship carried grapes from Afghanistan through Chabahar’s Shahid Beheshti Port to India’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port, also known as Nhava Sheva,” he said.
